Maybe I shouldn't have even brought up the Ba Gua circle walking. I don't think many people got my very specific and straight-forward technical practice point. I am saying this: if you already know and practice Ba Gua Circle Walking (BGCW), most especially the basic Single Palm Change/Walk, then you can incorporate the inner protocol into that, which will ignite your body and flare up your internal practice results like nobody's business. This is the ultimate internal Big Up Yourself move.
But it requires that you know, specifically not in any vague hand-waving sense, specifically and concretely, the following two things:
- A decent/ok normal orthodox Ba Gua Single Palm Change circle walking practice. More or less style independent. I know there are huge style wars in Ba Gua, forget all that, if you can do some sort of one of the many trivial variants of BGCW then you're checked out and good for this post.
- The XingYi Santishi 'Inner Protocol'. This has no fancy outer shape, but it's a very specific teaching point that I've made over and again in recents years in all my Xing Yi stuff (not taught on my earlier materials cause I doubted people could wrap their heads around it, in fact I still do doubt that but anyway). It means that, as you stand in Xing Yi Santishi, you are, very specifically performing a simple internal movement or protocol. This mean, NON-PHYSICAL, it's MENTAL and ENERGETIC, ok? It's described from p. 30 in my book 'The Aiki Singularity' and also it's given as part of the Dark Fire Five Element Staff (film program) where I talk about Santishi standing (no staff, at the end of the set). ==> For people who are very audio-visual and don't want to read Aiki Singularity, I have presented this same 'Santi Inner Activation' thing in detail as one of the 5 teachings on my film Bare Metal Internals.
In this post, we're going to add the two above things together. But 1+1 is going to equal way more than 2, it's going to be a 1000x charge on your current internal amp. However you absolutely need to be familiar with the above two things to make any sense out of what I'm saying here.
What I'm saying here is very simply that you apply the Inner Protocol thing from Xingyi (Inner Protocol listed above) very specifically and deliberately (nothing vague or hand-wavy) to your BGCW. That's all.
But you need to actually do that. It's a mental thing that you need to consciously and specifically apply and maintain as you walk the C. It's going to feel a bit weird at first, I won't kid you. It's basically adding in an implicit counter-twist to the process.
Let's say you are walking with left hand extension. That means you are going in a counter-clockwise circle. Then what you need to do is, create a feeling that your WAIST and PELVIS and HIPS, as one single unit, create the feeling that this unit is trying gently to turn AWAY from the circle direction. Trying to turn OUTWARD from the circle you are walking. Weird, right? I told you this would feel weird. That's why it's a secret, because it isn't obvious. Now don't go crazy, this is just a feeling that you generate. An outside observer should see NO DIFFERENCE from your normal BGCW. Got that? Don't go nuts with this on me, don't treat it as a physical mechanical thing. It's very definite and specific but it's an internal state that you control, not an outer physical move.
Then, just as with the Xingyi Santishi inner protocol, your rear (lower, closer hand) is just on the outside of your dantian/navel area and it is OPPOSING that outer hip rotation feeling just described. In other words, it's as though your pelvis wants to rotate away from the circle (as you keep walking) but your lower/inner hand is gently somehow opposing that 'movement' (virtual movement) of your pelvis and waist. You really should understand this effect and feeling already, from the Xingyi materials, I shouldn't have to re-deseribe it here.
So in the above pic, A is your walking direction (counter clockwise), D is your main hand extension (not relevant to this practice for now), B is the waist trying to rotate AWAY from the main circle (yeah I know that's weird, that's why it's a secret duh!) and C is your lower/closer hand, held near just barely to the outside of your navel line at dantian, gently "opposing" or "controlling" as a counter-force to the escaping 'motion' of your waist (B).
Stay physically soft and relaxed, mentally calm and deliberate as you do this!
Then you just keep walking the circle, while maintaining the above feeling-state. Single Palm Change every 8 steps, as normal (then you just reverse everything above). Is it too complex? It will take a bit of experimentation and getting-used-to on your part, because this is not commonly taught. But if you can do it just as described, softly, without going nuts, you will find in a short while that it has a TRULY MASSIVE energetic effect. But I don't know how much more clearly than this I can present or describe it.
(BTW the pic of the master at the top of this post is for general Ba Gua atmosphere, I'm not asserting any specific affiliation)
