Even though I got to the shala before 6 today, practically every mat space was filled on the floor already. Maybe that's what it's like to practice in the real Mysore (India), I don't know. Ken is becoming a serious yoga celeb here and his ashtanga place is really getting popular. Even just three years ago when I was going there, never any problem finding acrage to roll out your mat. Ken just returned to Japan from several months in India (Mysore) and this morning he brought in a special gift from the guru (P. Jois), a large framed oil portrait signed and dedicated from himself to Ken. Ken said he'll begin 2nd Series with me this week sometime, if we are both around. Anyway, still I think most foreigners go to Tarik's place in Shibuya or one of the other Ashtanga Mysore practice sessions that have mushroomed up here in the past couple years.
I don't know why suddenly a lot of asana's that had been difficult for me suddenly snapped right into place and now nearly pristine, such as the Pado. A-B-C-D, both sides Mari B, Baddha Konasana nearly touching floor on both sides, Baddha Padmasana no problem, and so on.
But who knows? Months of progress can be wiped from the slate in a moment with some quick injury. And no matter what, this body still has to die off. Now that is what I should really be working on, instead of this yogic nonsense, the one remaining problem - I am encased in a human body and I need to come up with some neatly convenient, sanitary method of disposal that does not create a public or private nuisance.
