Some moron wrote a review of my latest book '5G Tai Chi', giving it the lowest: 1 star. That's fine, everybody has a right to their opinion. So I'll give my opinion of that review. It's nasty of course - but that, I can respect. He doesn't like my acerbic style, and that's totally understandable. An acquired taste at best. I may sound too sarcastic or proud or vicious or dismissive or ironic or whatever in print. Quite a number of people have told me so (though I'm a sweetheart in real life actually). So that's all good and I would leave this fool with a respectful Namaste and and we'd part as enemies, all good.
However, this tool has gone beyond nasty, into plain-ass stupid. And that's not as subjective a comment as you may think. I can rigorously, almost mathematically, prove that the review as written reveals the mind of an absolute jackass. Stylistics are one thing, see above. But "1 Star" means: "The book has no value whatsoever". Now, is that objectively true in this case?
Did he apply himself to the dozens of drill routines and precisely explained techniques taught in the book? All of which are direct personal teachings to me from extremely powerful, overwhelmingly qualified and highly respected genuine masters of the arts, some of whom are no longer alive to give it to you? Many of which drills are not spelled out in any detail, or at all, in any other source? Exactly how much time, and with what degree of consistency, did this blockhead apply himself to all those before reviewing? The book is a treasure trove worth well more than $12.95 - for that content alone.
Then the other thing: the book is full of dozens of extremely profound extended quotations - in original translation - from great historical masters. These are NOT the usual Classics which are all over the place. This is material that is rarely seen even in the original Chinese, much less in translation, all in one place. The book is a treasure trove worth well more than $12.95 - for that content alone.
Does the book then meet the technical definition for 1-Star: "no value whatsoever"? If so, you're basically saying that the teachings, drills and writings of these great masters has "no value whatsoever". And that is obviously stupid. QED.
