I recently taught a method here to super-amp the Xingyi standing method (that goes along with the Xingyi Santishi standing method, see my book AXE Advanced Xingyi Energetics). The post got very little public reaction, but a number of enthusiastic private raves to me personally. So since I know that some people are actually paying attention to these posts, I'll now give you Part 2. I realize these seem like small things, just little fussy details. But those who work with them seriously will realize how much power they can trigger. Those who'd prefer to spend thousands at a Shaolin Temple tourist facsimile - have at it. There's something to be learned everywhere.
But I'm offering this post here and now "because I have heard you are a serious man, to be respected" (Vito Corleone)
The intial method from the first post will get you used to this way of working. And if you've worked the 'active' (yang) version of this drill presented there, you'll be able to understand the contrast that constitutes the far more powerful 'passive' (yin) version of the drill almost instantly.
It's extremely simple. This more powerful yin version is practically identical to yang/active version. It looks the same from the outside. But try according to the directions here and see if you can feel the massive up-amping in effect. In this yin version your hands make the same shape - but totally passively. This means that you just drape your completely relaxed hands over the hanger - and let the hanger create and maintain the Xingyi hand shape. I know the difference is subtle, but work with it. You'll have to adjust your hands along the hanger now - larger hands more to the center so that the broader central part of the hanger can create/support the full hand shape, and slide your hands farther apart outward along the hanger if they are smaller and don't need the full opening.
Note your index finger first. Unlike the 'yang' version before, in this 'yin' version, even your index finger only extends because it fully resting on the hanger frame. Relax it completely but it can stay extended because the hanger frame is supporting it. Your other fingers are totally relaxed and therefore they curl naturally without any tension around the frame that supports them. Try to get the most accurate XYQ standing hand shaped and Tiger Mouth etc. that you can, by strictly 'forming' your hands on the frame. Your hands have no tension, no shaping force of their own. They are totally relaxed and take shape only from the hanger frame itself. You do have to position them right at the start, but after that relax on the frame - no gripping, no tension, no extension or deliberate projection. Just nothing. Let the hanger do ALL the work.
Look at the hanger photo above. If you study it carefully you'll realize that I've placed my hands in such a way that the hanger is literally doing all the work. I've "given up" my hands entirely, and all support for the shape is just the hanger doing the wor - even the extended index finger. Such is the genius of this method.
Even two minutes of this 'yin' passive mode - if you can really feel the contrast with the active mode - will just rocket your arm and cestus charge to a torrent of internal surge. And once you really understand this contrast, you can eventually stop working with the yang/active version, and just use this advanced yin mode only.
