If there's anybody out there who learned, or who wanted to learn, the so-called Cheng Man-ch'ing 37-Step Simplified Tai Chi form - but you didn't ever have the chance to taste it under the teaching of Benjamin Lo, then you have your 2nd chance this summer July 29/30 (Saturday and Sunday). See info pinned at the top of this blog.
Obviously I can't replicate the full Ben Lo experience. I'm not a master like him. However 35+ years of training with him, I learned to 'clone' his teaching style. I can pretty replicate almost every point he would make, every teaching he would express to you, in the manner that he would teach it. I'm like a parrot or Myna bird in that respect! I even speak fluent Chinese (but the seminar language of instruction will be English).
I freely admit that you won't get the same contact high as you would with the Real Thing, Ben Lo in person. But if you have any curiosity about Ben's unique angle on the 37 Tradition, then in late July, '23, Seattle is the place to be. I will replicate his teachings on:
- the form postures and transitions - with Ben's unique engineering exactitude and precision
- the overall method of how to approach practice of the form - all Ben Lo
- my unique next-level synthesis of Ben's discrete teachings applied to a "semi flow" style of form practice
- the SLO (Single Leg Operations) how & why - another next level advance based on Ben's teachings
- push hands: how and why
Beyond the Tai Chi, I'll spend as much time on approachable, bite-size energy protocols from traditional Xingyi Quan, Yi Quan, and Mantis Boxing.
